“No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of a new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new book is newly opened, has just begun! Look, it is the first page! And it is a beautiful one!” ~ C. JoyBell C.
I am delighted to begin “Yes-vember” 2016 with this marvelous quote from a well-named author. It is National Novel Writing Month. Thousands of people dedicate the month to writing every day. It’s a wonderful way to activate the creative spark and commit to pouring words onto paper. And this is the beginning of a new life/book!!!
Welcome to Year 2 of “Yes-vember” The Poet’s Way. Last year it began as a concept to see if there was merit in “blog-etry” following The Poet’s Way. Truth be told, I did not know if there was merit in the process.
By Day 30, I had learned so much about me, about poetry, about the stories that shape our lives and about following The Poet’s Way Path — Start Authentically, Explore Creatively, Live Expressively. Here’s a summary of these learnings and a great reference for wonderful poetry.
Today, I’m beginning again. I’ve begun to gather poems and poets to play along the path with me. Admittedly, I’m nervous and somewhat unsure if I will live up to my own expectations (including timeliness, proper grammar, wonderful photographs, heartfelt and soul inspiring connection). And I’m adding some tools and support to my “Yes-vember” — 30 days of mediation with This Epic Life – kc carter (join at any point on the journey), daily practicing of the New Equations Spiritual Postures, my “we-can-scale-for-that” misfits at 7 am Cynergy Crossfit and some other blissness as I sink into BEing at the Fish Ranch Think Tank on the shores of Oldham Pond. Suffice to say, I am in a good place. Happy and healthy as we embark on this journey through “Yes-vember” together.

For A New Beginning
In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.
For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.
It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.
Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.
Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life’s desire.
Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
